  • @ToyBoxMonster You're completely right that he has miserable technique. In fact, if you read any of his blogs, every single one of his tour diaries is "my voice is shot". I caught 3 shows in 30 days. And by the 3rd one he was so torn from the tour, but he put on a good face and rocked it. The high notes (like the one in the chorus of Lips Like Morphine) have become a lot easier for him lately. He definitely has stretched his vocal chords. But he's gonna fry them if he doesn't get lessons

  • they r brilliant live saw them glasgow few yr ago

  • No offense but his breathing and his barking isn't doing him or the band justice. I've seen other videos where he sings better than this so why he would sing bad live makes no sense if he is capable of singing better. I do agree though that he has a horrible technique and needs to improve since he runs out of air too much and struggles.

  • whats with the pansy red booties O_o

  • @daveevad1671 Unfortunately, your claim that you've worked in music for so long and that you can "pick out" vocal techniques by sight doesn't quite outweigh all of the evidence that Mr. Devine has rather awful technique. I can't find a single performance on Youtube on which he does not struggle to reach high notes and/ sing from the throat/ struggle to catch his breath. He strains his voice to such an extent that it cracks. Do you believe that he purposely does this each time he's being filmed?

  • @ToyBoxMonster Im sure you do have difficulty believing that but after 11 years of being involved in music and being around good vocal techniques and bad techniques i can easily pick out each just by watching the singer, how well they hold notes, how well they can execute all the notes in their range, etc.

  • @daveed - You are right actually. I wouldn't be. I'm being snarky because I think the band sucks (sincerely) but I won't turn my out of turn statement into a pissing match.

I am indeed a seasoned musician, and have played with a lot of well known people in the metal genre, and I do know my shit. I also think these guys are putting their look before their music. I'm sorry that is just the way it is. Then again, the Kill Hannah stuff is so generic and rote I am remiss to call it music in a sense.

  • @pegasuslover97 thats fair and i agree that theyre probably only known because of all the homo emo kids who are the real posers but i have seen them live and surprisingly enough enjoyed them a lot. and i already made 3 albums by the time i was 17 and i only owned a drumset and guitar.

  • @shootitinthehead Regardless, if you even think you're any type of knowledgable musician you wouldn't even be that arrogant to anybody who plays music.

  • @daveevad1671 Do you understand what vocal technique is? I have difficulty believing that you can evaluate a singer's vocal technique (his breathing, resonation, etc) over the loud noise of a rock concert. In any case, I certainly didn't make any comment about the role of vocal technique in attracting audiences and selling out shows.
