The dangers of wire grill brushes

A Rhode Island Hospital study finds that people consume wire bristles from cleaning their grill with grill brushes, and it can be very dangerous. This just happened last week to my 18 yr. old daughter, who we thought had swallowed a fishbone. After long ER visit an ENT was finally able to retrieve the wire bristle, but she had come extremely close to having surgery (OR was prepped, IV was placed). People need to be more aware of the dangers. Everyone, including ER staff were surprised with the findings.

I work for a brush manufacturer and would suggest to use a flat wire grill brush called a block brush. The "wires" are wide and flat and work very well. No chance of having these break off! They work very well as I use them at home frequently. Wire is .105 x .017 carbon steel. They use these on commerical flat tops.
