A friend of mine has a 14HP one of these
and he also own the 19HP Allen Brothers ED that was on the frount of the July 2009 Stationary Engine mag. I started the Allen at the weekend and it was fun.

watch how you pull those spokes, I did that with my IP engine trying start it, it kicked back and broke 6 fingers

Looks like variable timing, like the Ruston diesels have.
