Obviously there is no match for Probatino, but waht I would like to know is how efficient is QUEST for a small but busy coffee shop?Would it over-heat or burn the beans after heavy use?In other words what's its consistency like together with durability?

Any help is much appreciated. I am planning to get a few and I am not sure if it's worth the investment.Thanks everyone.

It's not a production machine for a shop. It is for use as a sample roaster, a home coffee roaster, or a traveling field roaster. Best load is just 120 grams although it can do 200. Not for a shop ....

sampling from drum is cool... besides this, what's the other big advantage/difference of over the Hottop? they seem similar feature wise... is it easier to get good roasts on the Quest?

@benm5678 You are correct, very comparable to a hot top but somehow it feels like a very different creature than a hot top when using it. The manual heat and air fan speed control are certainly different, and the completely manual way you time roasts and dump batches. Nothing digital here at all.

I like it! If it isn't scalable to larger batches, can it at least do multiple back to back batches? It looks sturdy enough. Trying to meet demand at Christmas time with my iRoast was comedic this year and hence I'm seeing a bbq drum roaster in my future.

@MickAv8r Yes, I have even roasted batches while cooling the previous batch - no lag time between. I think that will put it on par with behmor in grams per hour roasted.

Im very keen on keeping track of this machine's development. Would it be available in 220? I also wonder if the dial probe could be positioned lower through the out feed hatch ( it would have to be pulled out prior to opening) so that no j-wire would be needed. a might fine video of its potential!

Love it! I'll be waiting for more updates. I went from the Behmor to a 3kilo USRC and currently use the Behmor as my sample roaster. I could easily justify buying this machine as my new sample roaster. Love the fan and amp control, and not to mention the cooling mechanisms and temp readings. Oh and how easy it appears to modify. There's a lot i like about what i just saw. Thanks Tom!

So it has been touch-and-go with the Quest M3, but we thing we are going to go ahead with it because I personally think it is a paradigm shift for small sample roasting and home roasting. it's really a different level, because of the build, the simplicity, sampling from the drum during roasting etc. We are aiming these more at small roasting shops that can't spend $5,000 on a Probat sample roaster! But for the post-Behmor, post-HotTop home user, this is a step up into roasting as "craft". _T
