Byron bay is paradise for the backpacker only the locals can be aggressive sometimes for no apparent reason (my friend got hit in the eye on the street for walking past some kids).

The locals dont get that there local economy will be destroyed if the backpacker's leave.

Very busy in the summer.

its crowded and shark infested...no one talks about it, but from the old whaling station they used to have, the sharks still come into the bay, and there are no nets. So, be aware of great whites, tiger sharks, bronze whalers and bull sharks.

used to live there. its over crowded, soft and full of backpackers and wicked campers. You feel like a foreigner in your own town. Thats why I left the dump. Byron Bay is so shit its funny.
