It's easy , but you must pay attention to the videos of people who can do it and compare to those who can't like the mythbusters idiot.

The secret is to lean forwards when you push off and not try to start jumping straight away. Then jou push down with your hands first b4 you jump with your legs. It works like a whale's tail so you need to puch down with your hand first to change the main foil's angle. If you don't push with hands first the angle doesn't change and jumping only slows it down!!
