New England - Explorer Suite (1980) [720p HD]

My 13th video in a series I'm working on for some of my favorite songs from the past.

Explorer Suite is the title track from New England's 1980 sophomore release. It is the most progressive song the band recorded. Lyrically the song is working on a couple of levels....describing loneliness and isolation with images of a man lost in space. Just a really cool song that fits in great with Bowie's Space Oddity and Peter Schilling's Major Tom (Coming Home).....it's every bit as good as either!

It's a testament to how much I love this band when I up videos of two of their songs.....when there are so many other artists and songs that I would like to cover!

I've just been in a New England way since working on the video for "Don't Ever Wanna Lose Ya"......and if there was ever a band that could use more exposure and maybe receive a bit more recognition for the incredible work they created in the rock/pop world.....New England is gotta be the one! Happy to do my tiny bit to promote this criminally overlooked band. Thinking of 2 or 3 more vids for songs by this band before it's all over.

Love New England. I had a chance to meet Paul Stanley in '82. I asked him what ever happened with New England. He said he didn't know what I was talking about. Kind of being a prick about it.

Very cool that you met Paul, though it sounds like the guy himself was pretty uncool?! Not sure why he wouldn't acknowledge New England? In my experience with actors/musicians, they really respond and open up the most when someone wants to talk about the more obscure aspects of their careers....ya know, in this case, ask Paul about working with Gene=ignore, BUT ask about New England=excitement that you asked?

Kinda does doesn't it?! Why those two bands became huge and this one didn't is still a mystery. Think they would have created some incredible music if they had gotten more popular and made more albums.

I've got a couple others in the pipe from Explorer Suite, but haven't yet started on No Place To Go.....but it sure seems to be the favorite of many from this awesome album. I agree, this album is a lost masterpiece! Every song from first to last is outstanding melodic AOR rock.....thanks for commenting.....watch for more videos from Explores Suite soon!
