@pscompanies this is the original one. taken in late 80s. the technology was not any where close to what it is now. so this would have been taken with what was available during that time i guess.

@pscompanies oh that! hahaha. it ws recorded into a vhs tape (which was the only option available at that time!). i did the conversion from a vhs and saved it in this format.

@rosybuddy28 I'm a black dude from Texas who when I was young found 3 of his records on vinyl for cheap. These records are invaluable to me now. In southern black music tradition they would say " he makes the instrument talk."

great original vidwan- also made a Tamil movie if i remeber without any song! his whole family is full of talents; i was indeed lucky to listen to him in Paris i htink it was 1966/67. during question answer, he answered all questions from the french audience (there wee hardly ten indians in the hall) brilliantly with some humorous reamrks too.

Someone is posting silly stuff about Ravi Shankar willing to sit on street corners in U.S. You think Ravi Shankar ever did any such thing or would ever have considered doing so!?? What nonsense.....He did however perform from huge platforms also used by rock and rollers for mass audience, thus bringing Hindustani Classical to western ears...........

He was India's greatest vainika, and probably India's most misunderstood vainika as well. I doubt any other vainika in the world could match this man's abilities to make that instrument sing. None comes even close. The life he gave certain ragas was simply amazing. In this instance just listen to his subhapanthuvarali and be transported.
