2001: Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) re-introduced a bill to create a U.S. Department of Peace. This bill has since been introduced in each session of Congress from 2001 to 2009. It was re-introduced as H.R. 808 on February 3, 2009 and is currently supported by 72 cosponsors. In July 2008, the first Republican cosponsor, Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (R-MD) signed on. i think this is a great idea and she should use the song "Where is the love" by the black eyed peas

it is a really great song and it makes you think why do we need war to solve a problem, why do we have to kill people to do something

i hope that there will be a department of peace, it will help every country not just the United States

Department of Peace..would be a great idea to foster peace in communities, states, and internationally. It would certainly provide a great counterforce to the "chicken hawks."

It can be done by shifting funds that are already allocated for outdated technology that the military doesn't even want. Before a department can be created, we all need to work within to become agents for change. I wear my Peace Synergy Bracelet to remind me of that everyday.

Expanding government to include a department of Peace requires raising additional taxes so corrupt politicians can appoint their friends and contributors to high paid positions.

Freedom and peace can never come through group or political action.

The government is an inefficient, bureaucratic mess. It's programs always turn out to cost more than expected.

The effort to change others never works.
