APS asks public for cost-saving ideas

Albuquerque Public Schools Superintendent Winston Brooks is asking the public's help in solving the district's potential $64 million shortfall this year.
Starting Wednesday, you'll get the chance to tell the district what and what not to cut.
Brooks is asking parents, students, teachers and everyday citizens to help take the wheel in managing the district's budget crisis.
"We have to take public input very seriously. I mean, we're elected by the public," said APS District 6 School Board Member, David Robbins.
Robbins believes every voice must be heard in this process.
"People who work at the schools have an interest and they have a right to voice their opinions. People whose children are in the school have a right to voice their opinions. But people who are just plain taxpayers have a right to voice their opinions, also," he said.
UNM educator Michael Anthony thinks public input can be a double-edged sword.
"I've heard people say 'I don't have kids attending school so why do I want to help them out?'

So my question is this... if they need us to do their job... why not fire all these high payed useless administrative costs... and elect a pure volunteer only school board?
