@EmbracedSword close but the leaf actually releases an enzyme that kills them.
they dont die of starvation, and the same enzyme is acidic like a weaker stomache acid.
you can actually grab some if you pry the leaf open mid way through the process.
when its done its absorbed back into the leaf leavin only the carapace of the bug.

@indyur1 if the meat is too large the leaf with the meat inside will become black and decay/sick and the whole plant might die
