HIGH ALERT OVER INFILTRATION BIDS BEFORE REPUBLIC DAY, 2010

With Republic Day celebrations round the corner there is a distinct threat from across the border to sabotage peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Here is a first hand report of Jawans from a forward post of BSF on the International border, keeping a close watch against all odds.

As darkness descends, the Border Security Forces (BSF) men remain on alert guarding the fences against Pakistani infiltrators.

With temperatures as low as minus 4 degrees, the jawans keep themselves on high alert with their fingers always on the trigger, as they continue to guard the border.

Dalbir Singh, Sub-Inspector, BSF said, "We have to save our fences from terrorists and keep tight vigil throughout the night. This is our daily routine and it would be heightened during the Republic Day."

Few hours into the night, some movement was spotted on the Pakistani side, which was caught on thermal imaging cameras. However, the jawans vigil continued uninterrupted all through the night.
