  • that sounds good for a 4.0L the 5.0 always sounds deeper but one of the best 4.0L i have heard

  • I got a new video up, I got it redone from the axle back and added tips. Sounds even better now

  • Sounds pretty good but the key to making a dual exhaust V6 sound its best is to dump the pipes downward just before the bumper. It makes a nice hollow sound when it bounces off the concrete and the undercarrige. I have a 97 Explorer Sport with the SOHC 4.0 dualled out from the OBX headers thru individual cats and two Flowmasters with 3" piping dumped near each quarter panel...I always have to pop my hood to prove its not the 8 cylinder. PLUS its a 5 speed which makes it even sweeter thru shifts!

  • Thanks for the tip, the one thing that helps with yours is the bigger piping and also the headers. It also seems like you actually have true dual exhaust while this is just single in dual out. I'm getting it rebent right now from the axle back and its gonna be 3" back in to either 3.5" or 4" crome tips that have about a 70 degree angle so it'll help "bounce" the sound off that ground.

  • I'll upload another video in about a week after I get it re-piped from the axle back (added 3" body lift). Gonna have 3" pipefrom the axle back. I also added a air intake since then so it sounds even better

  • howd the mileage pickup, how bout low end??or was it mostly mid range I have jeeps but I have one exp, so I wanna do it to it, and make it my commute rig to keep my jeep miles down

  • I actually picked up close to 2mpg with this. It increased low end power and surprising top end also. I didn't notice any mid range. They have bolt on kits for the ex's which would be a lot cheaper and actually sound pretty good

  • the 1991-1994 Ford Explorer was assembled in

    Louisville, Kentucky, United States

    St. Louis, Missouri, United States

    Valencia, Venezuela

  • @SuperSeattleite its a first gen Explorer....you gots some work cut out for you. Most of these things are run to shit but still run. I say find one in good condition, add some sway bars and some good grade tires and you've got the perfect truck. just service it on time and stuff. ALSO th eodomet resets itself every 100k so be careful on what you buy

  • Im getting this kinda car, how long does it last mileage wise? 200k?

  • That sounds pretty good. I've got a '94 XLT 4x4 that I need to do that to. I love that truck! It's completely stock and runs great. And it only has 142K miles on it. Did your gas mileage improve at all with the exhaust upgrade?

  • does a 94 have one catylitic converter on it or two ?.i think mines glogged up sorta slow at the top end .

  • looks sweet sounds sweet this is legit im gonna do this to mine.

  • I have a 1994 Ex. Probably will have video up later this week. Cleanest one i've ever seen

  • Good job man. I plan on having a set up like that soon. Except i plan on running chrome tips out the side near the rear tires.

  • you forgot to put the mufflers on lol

  • No affence DoinDirt But i much prefure the sound of his Flowmaster over your Magnaflow. NOthing personal I would rather have the depth.

  • this is okay sounding , but not proper , flowmaster only sounds good on V8's , not V6's or 4cyl , check out my vids , and you will hear i big difference in sound :)

  • sounds good for v6, iv got 99 v8 5.0 tht sounds really good but wrecks about a month ago, check out my vid

  • OHV for sure thats the only 6 cyl they put in the explorers that year...

  • Your truck has an OHV. SOHC didn't start til 1997.

  • not bad man :) check out my exhaust clip on my explorer some time ;)

  • You mean the 2.9? Those things were notorious for cracking heads and blowing head gaskets. The the 2.9 turned into the 4.0, and they still had some head problems until some of the later head castings.....and then the OHV 4.0 turned into the SOHC 4.0, and they had those issues with the timing chain tensioners.

The SOHC 4.0 is a good engine, just dont get an early one.

  • The SOHC engine is good after a certain year...with all those timing chain / tensioner problems.

  • Yea i do, U obviously dont know u have not looked under my hood or dun ur research. The OHV was produced and used until 2000, The SOHC was first produced in 1997 but was not standard until after 2000.

  • did u take off the original pre silencer, from the explorer, I have done a job like urs but I have the pre silencer now, im goig to take it off, I have to upload a vid with my explorer in outside conditions for better sounding because the one I have its in the garage so the sound its owful sorry

  • sounds good

  • i got a 99 4.0 ohv. have u dun any other mods besides the exhaust wat would u reccomend i do to mine for max performance.?

  • it is better to stay with a 2" to 2 1/4" pipes from the muffler.. helps keep back pressure. the v6 needs back pressure. big tips is ok but stick with smaller piping.

  • hey these have dual manifolds dont they or are they single manifold?
