We're playing this piece in my university orchestra. This is my favorite movement out of the entire suite. I feel like at the end that I've won something grand, like a race or something. It is amazing that the notes are simple, but it is the color that makes it so grand and beautiful.
Ravel is such genius. I love how the conductor performed and showed off the strong and talented orchestra. From 3:00 he smiles at the orchestra and at 3:08 he seems to be commanding the ocean to rise and at 3:13 he tamed them altogether to a great finish. I love it! Hugs!
