  • If volts x amperes = watts and 1 kilowatt = 1000watts and you lower the amperage draw thus lowering your watts or kwh at your meter, you are saving money plain and simple

  • Just got a large capacitor out of an old amplifier, it said 10,1000uF 63volts and I connected across my mains supply and the flippin thing just went bang! so practically I have just invented enormous source of free energy and I have a problem at the moment to contain the energy so i might need more of those capacitors!

(No only joking of course! you must never connect low voltage electrolytic caps across any mains power supply lines or they can explode)

  • You are only reducing the kVA(apparent power) needed to your house

The power company supplies you with kVA(apparent power) but bills you only what you use kWh(true or active power)

Your Power Factor Correction device won't reduce the watts consumed by your motor, therefore your power bill will be the same.

You would need this device if penalized by the Utility or needed other benefits such as voltage stability or cooler running motors.

kWh(active or true power) stays the same

  • Thanks for that. It is important to note that these power factor devices, have the best efficiency with inductance appliances. The results for any resistive devices is minimal.
