My new camcorder is a Canon Vixia HG21.
It has a 120 GB hard disk drive but also uses SD 4x Cards.
Generally I use the 4G cards so that I can directly copy the resulting AVCHD files directly to a DVD for backup then I copy the files to the computer for editing and erase the card for reuse.
I chose the HG-21 mainly because it has both the LCD screen and a viewfinder. I find that the viewfinder is essential when shooting in bright sunlight.
