I had to do a workshop performing this scene, and I was chosen to be Susannah. This scene is so scary when you're put in that position. And Ramey's rendition is supreme for certain. :D
This is an opera near and dear to my heart and I love Ramey in this role! It just kills me that the chorus is using such proper diction. You think people in eastern Tenessee in the 50's spoke like that? Nooo! That's the greatest thing about being a Southerner and singing this opera, you get to sing like you talk!
This is going to be really cool to do with him next month. So excited!!!
