"A Farewell to Those Left Behind" for Solo Vibraphone by Tim Ferchen, performed by Ronni Kot Wenzell at Morse Hall, Juilliard Pre College NYC (60 Lincoln Center Plaza, N.Y.C.) on October 31, 2009.

The concert was a part of an extensive tour of the U.S. during the fall 2009 under the name "Nordic Links", presenting Nordic music. The "Nordic Links" tour was sponsered by Edition Svitzer, Danmarks Nationalbank's Anniversary Foundation of 1921, Classical Soloists Association of 1921 and the Danish Musician's Union.

In August of 2005 a hurricane by the name of Katrina hit the southern coast of the United States. It left in it's wake thousands of people dead, and many more without homes. In New Orleans, where 80% of the city was flooded, many of the poor and elderly unable to escape or be rescued were never saved. This piece is dedicated to them.
