This is a beautiful song, but it's sometimes difficult to think about what we're truly saying in this song and in St. Ignatius' Suscipe prayer, off which this is based: "Receive, O Lord, all my liberty. Take my memory, my understanding, and my entire will. Whatsoever I have or possess that you have bestowed upon me, I give it all back to you and surrender it wholly to be governed by your will. Give me love for you alone along with your grace, and I am rich enough and ask for nothing more."
@jdkarate05 Fun fact--this song is based on the Suscipe prayer by St. Ignatius of Loyola. Which makes sense as to why a Jesuit school does this before mass
My school's chapel choir opens mass before the processional hymn with the first verse of this song. It is a great way to call everyone to the higher purpose of what we actually are at the mass for. Thanks for sharing this.
As we grow in the Lord I have come to understand, how futile the things of this world are. The greatest possessions are His Love, His death on the cross and to praise Him with ALL my heart this day. Thanks Brendan!
Excellent pictures. And beautiful songs.
