Sydney Theatre Company presents
SATURN'S RETURN
by Tommy Murphy
Something is rumbling beyond the walls. The shower is leaking. The toilet is blocked. A flood is imminent and Zara is about to be swept away on the tide. A moment of hesitation, on an afternoon like any other, will change the life of this twenty-something forever. When Matt tells Zara that he loves her, she cant respond. According to the astrologers Zara is going through her Saturn Return: a period of upheaval. But is the universe really conspiring against Matt and Zara or are they simply unwilling to grow up?
In this fast-paced epic in miniature, Tommy Murphy uses his trademark comic flair to scrutinise the conundrums which face the indulged generations X and Y. David Bertholds snappy, sexy production was first staged as part of our Wharf 2LOUD Season in 2008. Now he and his team will rejoin us in Wharf 1. Perhaps youll recognise yourself in Saturns Return. Perhaps youll recognise your children. Either way youll fi nd yourself questioning just what the future has in store for a generation with its own unique take on love and commitment.
Playing from 24 July at Sydney Theatre Company. Bookings on (02) 9250 1700 or sydneytheatre.com.au
