who cares if she's not the most talented singer, she's a smart business woman and her songs are catchy, provocative and unprecedented for the part of the world she is from. madonna is not a great singer- but she is arguably a cultural icon. i think haifa falls into the same category. i'm not even arab and i think her music is awesome- its introduced me to the world of pop arab culture- which i have to admit- is pretty awesome!

Oh pleeeeeeease! The music genre, tempo, beat, bellydancing all suffice to display evidence of the absence of western touch. If any song emerges in the west bearing resemblance to boos el wawa, then it is the WESTERN CROWD that has embraced our middle-eastern technique! The clothes component is quite arguable but don't forget, for centuries, the ARABIC language remains rooted even in the entertainment aspect...
