@ninsgveen =D thanks, i forgot there's civil people on youtube lol

@llllXeallll Traditional is fine, as long as you mind your posture. When I said recurve I meant either recurve barebow, or recurve with a sight. You can start with a regular barebow and use 3 fingers, then when you got your form, go onto the thumbring :) Good Luck and happy archery

@ninsgveen actually i haven't chosen yet, but i'm probably going to get recurve. but i've come too the decision too learn the traditional way

@llllXeallll Learn to shoot recurve first with 3 fingers. If you get the form under control, then try the thumb release. I think the thumb release will only take your attiontion away from what matters more: the posture. (I assume you're talking about recurve...)

hey i'm new to bow shooting.
can anybody tell me if thumb release is a bad habit? (where you hold the arrow with your thumb and finger instead of the string)
my friend goes bow hunting and that's how he shoots but i never see any skilled shooters shooting that way. i don't want to learn that way if later i'll have to re-teach myself the "correct" way. any answers would be appreciated

Ah, thank you,

@Evyldyn It's called stringwalking. Allows me to shoot at different distances simply by moving my fingers up and down the string. Quite handy for us barebow archers. Google "stringwalking" and you'll find a lot of info on it.

Can I ask why you're holding the string like that?
I always have one finger above the arrow, and two underneath,
Even though I mostly get lazy and use 2 fingers, one above, and one underneath.
Hey i'm new to archery. I've been shooting for about a month and i'm testing different ways to aim.. Do you look down the arrow to aim? is that your wat of shooting?

@xcalico1 When I draw back to anchor, the arrow naturally comes up slightly under my eye. Then, it's easy to look down the shaft and set the arrow point in the gold. I also try to keep the point just slightly to the left of the string. The string will be blurry, but it gives me a good reference point that allows me to repeat the same shot over and over. Good luck with your shooting!
