Sorry, natashaclaire, this will be a bit primitive, but you are bringing out of me the traditional conformist macho: do you always have to make a posh feminist (also lesbian?) manifesto with each of your comments?
E.g., cannot you imagine that going after pain and going after sexual satisfaction have something to do with each other even for grown-up non-conformist women (and men)? You don't need to be masochistic or submissive, I think.
