Another thing to keep in mind about the earth "growing" is that you can't forget that the core of the planet is highly compressed and super hot. What happens when things heat up? They expand. When something expands large enough it then goes into a cool-down in which it shrinks back down and the cycle continues. The last ice-age could very well have been the last cool-down period the earth experienced. This is all possible to understand through science. Religion simply says "God is doing it".

@m44ever A smaller planet doesn't nessasarily mean weaker gravity. In fact smaller can also mean much more dense and therefore much higher gravity. Which could also account for larger animals to exist. Higher gravity means animals would need to be stronger and stronger usually means bigger and the dinosaurs sure where big and no doubt quite strong... This iron bridge theory you mention is interesting. Do you have any links to more info that I can see?
