Implosion of Brooklyn Union Greenpoint Gas Tanks 7 2001

In July 2001, Keyspan imploded the Brooklyn Union Gas Holders located on Vandervoort Avenue in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. After the tanks buckle and fall like slaughtered cattle, the image of the silver hued twin towers of the World Trade Center eerliy appear after some of the dust settles. In less than two months the Twin Towers themselves would burn and collapse, shrouding lower Manhattan in a gray, ghost-like dust, sadly claiming 3000+ lives.

I was actually there watching the tank get imploded. Those tanks were an Eye from the time I was brought to bushwick by my parents in the late 70's I saw the tanks from my back window of my house and my grandmas house .the day when they came down tears came to my eyes cause i felt like a land mark was taken away from bushwick and green point but the pics of them alone well do for memories to pass .

I remember this. i use to pass those tanks on the way to school in green point an was always amazed by them, i was sad when they imploded them. also how weird is it that you could see the twins towers after the tanks were imploded an just exactly 2 months after the tanks went down those beautiful skyline in manhattan was taken down to, what a shame

wow my father told me about it. before that they evacuated people who lived near by... till today's day when i pass over vandervoort ave i see that place where gas tanks stand before. :) but ive never seen the explosion... now i had a chance:P thanks
