The story goes like this...

My Dog (Hunter) died suddenly of a hematoma on his spleen that burst at the end of March 2007. I gotta call from my then wife telling me that he was fine one minute and now all of a sudden he looks as though he is dying... I was on the highway and flew as fast I could and just 2 minutes away I felt a surge of energy or pressure pass right thru my body while driving and I screamed NO!!! then my phone range and she told me he just died and I said I already knew...

Well Thats only half the story...Ya see Hunter was our engagement ring some 10 years earlier..I got down on one knee and gave her this little beautiful brown round puppy for a ring as we were poor...fast forward to three months after his death and I was given a Guitar by my friend Mike whose dog had just passed away days before...His Dogs name was Jake. (thats why I named that Guitar Jake).
I had this bug to sing and did an open mic with Mike a few weeks earlier but we were never able to get out and do another one timing etc. Well He gave me a guitar (July 4th 2007) and I played for a total of 3 days and said this is too hard I quit...Then I awoke in the morning from a nightmare I had about Hunter (My Dog) who had passed 3 months earlier...I was chasing after him but he kept telling he he was gonna be ok.. crazy I know..and I was running in sand and could not get to him...Well I woke up in tears with this tune in my head...I got out of bed picked up that old guitar and I was able to play what I heard in my head and the lyrics poured out. The song was written in about 30 seconds...and now this is my final take on this song. This will always be my most precious song as it opende my mind and myself to a whole new world of music & song...Without this song there would never have been any songs for me...I thank God for this this song that he gave to me and my little angel in Heaven who is waiting for me at Heavens gate with his tail a waggin'.

They say you get many good dogs but only one great one...well That blue bone tag hanging around my neck next to my cross is Hunters tag...I took it off him when I got to him ...I was never able to say goodbye to him..When I die my son can take if off me.

Pets have a special place in our hearts. I know i love my Shelby (dog) and don't know what i would do without her. She almost died about 4 years ago. My active dog would just lay on the floor and not move. Thankfully she made it...after many trips to the vet and over a month of treatments she pulled through. I can still rememer the other pets from my childhood. Some will always be special and like yours will be wagging their tails in heaven waiting for us.
