Oddly, this video appeared on You Tube not long after I lent out a video cassette of my newsreading from MTN9. It mimics the poor quality of the VHS recording I had lent as I had a second generation compile dub from original taped off air in Griffith. I thought it ended up on You Tube that way. Whatever, I have stacks of MTN9, MidState Television stuff on VHS video.

From that short clip, there appears to have been a big jump in production sophistication between 1979 & 1986.
Reminds me of my Golden West Network (Bunbury) viewing - very amateurish with frequent drop-outs but a huge improvement from about 1986-7.

I didn't put this video on You Tube but I have my suspicions as to who might have! Shocking quality and it must be remembered there was no autocue at MTN9 all read off typed scripts.

This clip was recorded in Canberra via a tropospheric opening in May 1986, which probably explains the shocking quality (300km plus haul for a TV signal). Let me know if you have any other MTN9 stuff on tape. I can put you in touch with someone who is collecting old TV clips especiall from regional tv.
