from Abernethy / The World Outside the Window 2009 ///

Joe Abernethy (Vocals, synths) / Natalie Vermeer (piano)

This is dreadful. What's going to become of me? I have to work; I have to dance. And now I'll no longer be able to. I must die and yet I have to work. I will never be cured. Let me leave.

A vast, black shadow fills me with brooding and fantasy. When I am travelling on a disappearing road in vaporous places ... I look away. I was but a child in old blue gardens at night. Without time on my side I am as dead.

Breathe in the blue skies. I wish I had been what I thought I was. I was a fragrant phantom, wasn't I? Everything's going to be all right. I don't want to live and yet I am in love. A lamentable affair, but you are my darling.

  • @n8lone That is true. However, the song is about that personage.

  • She's not Zelda Fitgerald...
