Erica Marie Racz, Lydia Lyons & Michael Blackburn perform the "I Love You" song from the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, weekends thru Dec 20 at the Golden Bough Playhouse in Carmel.
@helen62442 ok. the reason the don't love her right now is because they are fighting because of the pregnancy. at the end when the parents say, "maybe its true, i love (chimerical ...) you. they are talking to each other. olive just wants everything back to normal, I'm VP Panch in this show, i have has A LOT of rehearsals to think about all this haha!
@HeyGuysItsJory Chimerical means highly unreal, fanciful, imaginary. This song is Olive imagining her parents telling her that they love her. The parents are played by the Comfort Counselor and Rona, the most comforting adults at that moment. Yes, her mum did go to India, and her dad doesn't have time for her, but they don't make up in this song. Olive is just wishing that her parents would love her.
ok people, so I have a theory. Olives mother and father are in a huge fight, during this song and they admit that they still love each other, but it's all fantasy. I believe that the fight is reality. Earlier in the story it is revealed that Olives mom went to India for 9 months, so I think she cheated on the father and went there to have the baby! That's why they are fighting and that's the basis of this song!! BOOM!!
I was in the show as Logainne and it just ended today and now all I can do is listen to this song over and over because although it makes me sad, it's so beautiful. This video especially makes me miss my show so much.

@CamBateman94 Because those arent her real parents, they are her imagination, just judges who represent her parents :)

Excellent Job, but why was Olive’s dad black...?

This is completely and utterly astounding. I had goosebumps every time I heard Olive sing her "mamma, mamma, mamma" line.
and I just want to point out that I think jumpers are the most unflattering clothes to have ever been invented.
