Don't know where signois has been but I have water skied and jetskied the river around Ft. Madison for 40 years. I have eaten catfish out of the river my whole life and know that most people in the area do. It isn't a clear mountain stream but it isn't so nasty that it can't be enjoyed by boaters and fisherman. Many beaches are packed around the area with families swimming and playing in the water.

Excellent video. Brings back fond memories. I was born & raised in Ft. Madison until my dad, an engineer at Sheaffer Pen got hired by NASA for the Apollo Space Program in '64.

Next time anyone visits Fort Madison and especially the fort, take the bridge over the tracks and visit the Historical Center museum housed in the Santa Fe Depot complex. It's a great visit from history buffs and railroad fans. You can get a tour from people who know what's up.
