Henry Lee, a murder ballad ! Cover

A Murder Ballad, thats originally written (re-written) by Nick Cave who had P.J. Harvey to sing it with him.
The song is originally an old folksong from the U.S and can be found here on youtube (prefer this version though) ;-)

I don't know why it was this specific song I had to cover, since I never do covers. But I remember it from when the video was first released, and maybe it's the simplicity in the video and song that I like. Hmmm

It has been a long time since last, but concider it as a little gift (well.... it's almost christmas ey). :-)

I tried to make a better video for this, but I just couldn't figure out the program I was using, so It's a non-cut, moody, dark and emotional video, that in my mind should fit the song well.

Great job Ras! You already know what I think of the song itself (great cover! Oops, I said it again...). Regarding the video production, you add such a great idea! The only thing missing, from my point of view, are a few views from your guitars to change a bit from only seeing your face (even if I doubt the girls on Youtube would complain about that... :o))).

Haha - well I actually tried to make some of the other parts come along and make some diversity (both guitar and bass), but I just couldn't get the editing to work as it should, with the fade-ins/outs etc, and when I "produced" the vid, it came out with blank parts etc, cause to be honest it was hard for me to put my face, so much out there.. I think the vid-edit is a french-job-only HAHA

Big thanks from the pale dane haha. We also need to see and hear some stuff from you - it's been ages - are you never recording anymore?

The video is shot really simple in a one-take cut, with my handycam. I adjusted my exposure and setup a spotlight that shot down to the side, right infront of the camera. When I step into the "beam" from the light, my face lights up and thats it.

For the step-by-step you'd better msn me :-)

@becksdollface Thank you very much for your kind words, to begin with I thought it was an easy task to do this cover, since it's imple chords. But not at all a great music-man-singer here, so actually it took me some time to make it, since I wanted a little guitar and bass in it...

Then the video thing, I will not be a tech-nerd working for tarantino thats for sure... :-)
