This is a video produced by Mitzi Uehara Carter. Her film is a 15 minute documentary on Okinawan Women of Northern California who survived the battle of Okinawa before coming to live in America. Their stories are touching and need to be documented as refrence for future generations to remember just how horrible war can be. The film was co-produced by: Wesley Uenten, Keiko Yamanaka, Daisuke Miyake of Crosswater Productions, and Mitzi Uehara Carter.

  • A very touching video. I have read couple books on OKinawa since I left home (Okinawa). In my heart I believe I am Okinawan even though I am born with a Father who is Fillipino. Never really had that much of an interest in History of Okinawa while I lived there, but really missed the culture when I myself married an American and came to U.S. My mothers story of her childhood brings back memories as I listen to these story.

  • Thank you for posting this Tom. It was truly a collaborative project. Technically it was produced by Crosswater Media (he did all the film editing) but directed by our team of project advisors you listed in the description.
