The Downfall of His Faith

Emotion: Impuissance, a feeling of powerlessness caused by the inability to act.

This is set during the end of the fifth book/movie. While running from Death Eaters in the ministry, Harry accidentally falls through a door, leaving his friends in the clutches of the enemy. Believing him to be hiding, Lucius threatens to kill his friends. Harry of course, cannot hear this. Infuriated and fearful of not obtaining the prophecy, Lucius pulls out his wand and...

Ron blames Harry for what happened that night. Ginny is caught between her brother and the boy she loves. She attempts talking sense into Ron and providing comfort to Harry, who all the while is battling demons in his head.

What happens when time does not heal their wounds?

SPOILER. AN INTERPRETATION OF THE ENDING.

Ron cannot forgive Harry. After receiving yet another brush off from Harry (who is drained from Voldemort's mental torture) on the bridge, something breaks within Ron. His faith. Ginny sees this, and follows him when he takes after Harry into the woods. She sees the anger in his eyes as he approaches Harry, and cries out before Ron attacks. Harry runs but won't strike back. Is he content to die?

Ginny recalls the prophecy. Harry must stay alive; he is the only one who can save the Wizarding world. She has to stop Ron permanently, and she does. When Harry questions her decision, she helplessly replies, "Because you're the chosen one". In essence, because Ron wasn't the one with a destiny, he was expendable. Ginny is numb, and turns her back on her former lover.

This is too much for Harry. He wants it all to stop, and all he can feel is impuissance... and anger. Someone else's anger. Voldemort's anger.

What happens next, even I cannot say for certain.

This was absolutely beautiful! The plot was simply unique and wonderful! I loved Ginny's struggle to be loyal to her brother but also wanting to comfort the guy she loves. We also kind of saw Ron and his feelings toward Hermoine's death. We all know he loves her also <3

The ending was a bit confusing....I didn't quite understand what happened. Care to explain?
