Mine was really dark, I was surprised because other demos sounded brighter. I tried playing with the treble pickup on my duo sonic I believe to keep the trebles. Can offer some cool sounds though if you don't mind the high end robbery.
@FinalBaton My signal was pretty balanced, I played in a two piece at the time so my amp was set up to give the fullest sound possible. All I can think of is the pedal was defective or maybe the manufacturers demo was playing through a bright set up. Also many folks on I Love Fuzz forums have said there's was dark too. =/
@PumpkinPieces33 Then it probably was a defective pedal. Makes sense- the first few batches were reportedly not functionning correctly, if at all (according to various music forums) The guy at seppuku seemed to control the damage nicely though. I saw several posts from him, asking unlucky owners to send back their broken Mind Warp for a free repair.
Hhhmm.... your bypass signal to me sounds pretty dark to begin with...
Might be the recording's fault thought.
Could this explain why yours' so dark?

@FinalBaton That's cool of him. I really would like to try a proper version of one, I loved the modulation it provided but not the darkness.
