  • I have played this son on the pipe organ many times as I plan on playing at this Saturday's mass. But it needs to go a little bit faster as it is a joyful up beat song.

  • @patsaxon Praise God for the gift of music and thanks for the input. Yes, it can be played faster and will sound more lively. Our singers prefer this speed and maintain the gospel groove. Hallelujah!

  • It is not rock. It is choral with a pop arrangement

The committee of the Baccalaureate loves it. The cathedral is full all the time, so the fruit is good.

  • There are many ways of singing the song and the song can be arranged many ways too. It is always a given that everyone has an idea, this is true even in the choirs that I have been involved with. But, music is always subjective and there is no right or wrong thing. Our choir is a free spirit choir and we are very flexible . Many times, the songs are sung with a different style, key and arrangements than the one that you hear elsewhere.

  • When people say "he is full of Spirit", it means very alive, right? Again, it does not show in most of us. We prefer to be passive in our faith. In last Saturday's prayer meeting, our spiritual director said "there is no greater way to please God than being alive in your faith". If we are walking in the Spirit, we can never hide it because the fruits that we bear will be seen by people and they will know that we are in the custody of the Holy Spirit.

  • This is not a performance but singing a song that is in the Catholic music issue book. The book was published by OCP which is put together by the Catholic liturgist and approved by the bishops. Dancing is a form of praise, as David did in the Old Testament. We keep calling the liturgy as a celebration. Just what the song says, God will wipe away your tears and replace it with celebration. Also, music lessons will only give you music. Nothing to do with the liturgy.

  • @Organsk8er its not very nice to ripe apart others faith by musical expression not everyone likes the dreadful drone of the Organ I would say about %90 of catholics put up with the organ to the extent these days that they would rather not have any music altogether thats why people are using guitars and drums and piano's which sound alot better

  • This is by no means a hymn...by ANY stretch of the imagination, but it CAN be done in a way that's far more dignified, beautiful, and prayerful. The text isn't what many people consider appropriate for use in the Catholic church, myself included...but it can certainly be done in a much more tasteful way. There the Dobson sits...the pipe organ...the OFFICIAL INSTRUMENT OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. Read your Vatican directives. It's in there. I promise.

  • This was when church was actually fun to go to.

  • Beautiful! Great job.

  • This is my favorite Hymn. Great job.

  • Full of what? Certainly not orthodox Catholics. The Mormon temples are full too.

  • Our ears are normally molded to what we hear all the time. Not too many churches has the same set up, arrangements and vision. It is like, if I see the choir in your church, I probably will like it or maybe not. It will take some time for my ears to get adjusted to the new kind. It is a yearly big gathering and the committee love it because it is primarily designed for teens who are graduating in high school. They preferred this kind over a traditional choir.

  • as a liturgical musician who uses this song for worship on occasion, i'd be mortified if this arrangement was ever used in my church.
