She may not have invented it, but she defined it and provided acceptance of the style of knitting I use.

I'm forever grateful!

If you are a knitter, you should read Annie's books! My favorite is "Confessions of a Knitting Heretic"!

Note: I don't know why I keep calling the yarn "thread" throughout the video! I guess it's from years and years of counted cross stich and crocheting with fine thread. Please forgive the blunder! There is only so much editing you can do! LOL

It is my wish and hope that by making knitting videos someone will see them and it will help them pick up needles and try to knit. Find a local yarn shop and take a class or search online for instruction and teach yourself. You're never too old or too young to try! You can always email me for help and if I don't know the answer I'll help you find out.

This world should be all about "giving back". If someone taught you something, teach someone else and the gift goes on and on.

  • Lovely! What happens in the next row? It's not the same slip 4, knit 4, then knit the back 4 over and over is it? That would be too simple. Do you have to do 1 more or less for each row as the knitting grows to make the cross over keep changing? I should look this up but it's easier to ask an expert. :) thanks for all your videos,

    Suz

  • Hi Suz., once you cross over you knit the number of rows indicated in whatever pattern you are using and then repeat the cossover. There are a million different types of cable patterns, really fascinating when you start looking at some celtic knotwork cables like a vest I made for my husband. Thanks for your kind commments :-)

  • May I ask why you knit through the back loops of your sts, which twists the sts; and you also are twisting your purl sts. What method of knitting is this?

  • It's Continental, or actually more like Combined Knitting... go to anniemodesitt (dot) com to find out more. You end up twisting your stitches by purling that way but it is MUCH faster to pearl that way, and I think it's a small price to pay to knit through the back loop in order to right your stitches. Just normal kintting for me though.

  • Nice video! You use Knitpicks wooden needles! I use Knitpicks metal ones. :D

  • I just got some of the new clear ones too. I like them. I'm knitting a sweater for my husband on the right now.

  • Could you do a video on how to knit seed and moss ( double seed ? ) stitches combined please ?

  • Lovely!!

  • Oh you knit like I do. That is nice, I can understand what you are doing. I really want someone to do a tutorial, a complete knit along of making something small, like a very simple raglan baby sweater or a simple vest. If you ever have time to do such a thing, I would really appreciate it. I'd just like to say I could make one thing that someone might actually be able to use and want to use. Then I can give it to charity.

  • Yes, I can see the stitch of the pattern, when you were showing that book, at the beginning of this video. ; ) In any case, I just thought you would like to know.

My comment to this video. I would absolutely love this video even more if you would show this video, using a lighter or brighter color yarn. I've noticed when people use dark colored yarn, it's extreamly difficult to .. see .. exactly how and where the needles should be going. Darn.

  • Hi, how long have you been a knitter? How did you learn to knit? Can you do a video on entrelac knitting please? Please respond back when you have a chance, thank you.

  • OMG!! before i even watch your video, i must say your name is AWWWsome lol. my sons name is Raven Sky, thought i was the only one who created that name!:) anyways thanks for the tutorial it is very helpful

  • Duh, I feel like a idiot! Just saw you that you showed the title of the book at the beginning of the video! :) Sorry! :)

  • Sorry I posted same thing twice, I didn't mean to! :(

  • I finally found someone who knits like me! My aunt taught me how to knit and I do it exactly like you. I've never seen someone go in the back of the stitch to knit and front to pearl, but I do it just like that! Oh, I wish I lived close to you so we could knit together and you could teach me to follow patterns better. I have problems with slip, slip, knit, etc... What book is that because I love the green sweater you show at the beginning. Looks like a guy is wearing it! :)
