If you want his head down, I'm sure you know all ready like but I've seen that loads of people are telling you to put all sorts of gadgets on him to force his head down, You just need to keep a firm hold of your outside rein and 'squeeze' the inside rein (sometimes squeezing with the two to start off with helps) and he should eventually accept the bit, whereas if you put all sorts on him, the moment they came off his head would go straight up again. Lovely horsie and goodluck in all your shows!

Try a standing martingale :) I know you use a running one, but try a standing one because they are legal in hunters, and it will help bring his hea down :)

i'm gonna have to agree with the others about your hands.

i'm not trying to tell you what to do but it looks kind of like your stirrups are a little too long. shortening them will put a better bend in your knee & will definitely help you get that blue ribbon (:
