Its pretty to look at but when you gotta work 16 hour days putting line back up.....not so much fun, we got most of the people back on within a week but took about a month to fix everything

Where i live on Long Island in New York, there was just one ice storm similar to that, in January of 1978.

The exciting part is, when the sun hits it in a few days and it all starts letting go. You have to watch where you go or you'll get impaled by icicles!

I remember waking up, going out to the front yard and just as I saw what looked like an icy Armageddon, a huge chunk of one of the tallest trees on our block came crashing down a few houses away. We were without power for seven days and we were one of the lucky ones.
And now it's about to happen all over again...

we had the same thing up here in upstate NY January 15th that year. Very bad icestorm for us. Was without power fo 3 days. Wow that icestorm affected everybody!!
