From the "Great Scenes from Shakespeare" series, this "Hamlet" video portrays one of the most famous scenes in all Shakespearean tragedy and, indeed, in all literature. It's Hamlet: Act III, Scene I, which includes Hamlet's famous "To be, or not to be" soliloquy, as well as his encounter with Ophelia in which he tells her, "Get thee to a nunnery."

@Lothriel I'm pretty confident it's Pennington, although the actress is not from his full production of the play. For other snippets of him doing Hamlet, check out the PLAYING SHAKESPEARE series of DVDs. (Netflix has 'em.)

@triad3204 Talk about a dated response, but is there any way to confirm if this actually is Michael Pennington?! I'm in semi-denial that a recording of one of his Hamlet performances could actually exist; if so, however, I am in complete agreement with your previous comment! This production, despite its seeming pitfalls, is definitely a must-see!!

I didn't care for the Hamlet. But I liked Juliet. I think she read her lines and reacted quite convincingly...

That looks like Michael Pennington doing Hamlet. The Ophelia, the costumes, and the film quality are all pretty dire, but Pennington's Hamlet is always worth even the most sultry peeks.
