Elephants Nkunga Forest, Meru Kenya

Due to continued vigilance by KWS and its close vicinity to Meru Town, the elephant herds are growing by day. Though not guaranteed, elephant sightings are a daily occurrence in this sector. Not bothered by the large number of goggling humans, this herd of 40 was foraging besides the road on 02/06/2011. Several accidents have been reported along this three kilometre stretch with fatal injuries. One death has so far been reported.
