On this 2004 Dodge Ram 2500, we are going to install part number 50062-6008 from Draw-Tite. We are also going to install Fifth Wheel 16K with Slider, part number 30051. The first thing we want to do is go ahead and lower our spare tire, like we have already. And then what we are going to do is go ahead and temporarily remove this wire harness from the frame rail to give us some more room when we install the frame brackets. The next thing we are going to do is place our rear rail into the bed of the truck. We are going to measure from the edge of the bed itself to the edge of the rail as specified in the instructions. And then, you want to make sure you have it centered left to right also. Once you have the rail centered, you want to go ahead and mark the center of the holes that you are going to use. In this case, we are going to use the furthest ones in one each side. So, we will go ahead and use a punch, for the start of our drill bit. Then, we can drill out our pilot hole. This hole here is going to center over the hatch handle underneath the bed, so you are going to have two layers of steel to go through. With our holes drilled, we will go ahead and put our bracket inside the frame and we will go ahead and line up our holes. 1:04

Once we are satisfied with that, if we need to make any alterations, like more the hole over a little bit, you can do that with a larger bit. We can go ahead and adjust the rail to the passenger side of our frame now and compare the brackets. And then, we will go ahead and enlarge our holes out to the 9/16 inch size. We will go ahead underneath and install our rear frame brackets. And we will start with the u-bolt first. It is going to go at a diagonal and we will put our conical tooth washer and nuts. Next we need to install hardware inside our frame. What we will do is take this bolt leader and put it through the hole that we are going to use, and we are going to thread it out towards the end of the frame to pull everything back through. Put in the block first and then we will thread on the bolt. We will install our conical tooth washer and nut again. And again we are going to leave it a little bit loose. And we will go ahead back over to the passenger side and do the same thing again. Before we actually put the frame rail back on top of the bed, we need to go ahead and put some more spacers in the hatch handle for the bolts to come down through there. What we are going to need to do first is get a piece of wire, anything for a pull wire, and what we are going to do is push this in the hole with the hatch handle and go out the side. We are going to wrap this wire around a spacer tube and pull it back up through, just enough. And what is going to happen is, we are going to take a screw driver and pry it straight up into position. And check it a few times with a bolt that actually goes through there and keep straightening it out until your bolt goes all the way through. 2:29
There is one last set of bolts that we need to install. They are going to go on the center here of the front and rear rails. They are going to go on the back half of these. Since everything else is torqued down, we can go ahead and use a 1/2 inch bit and then just our bolt in. We are going to do the same thing with our rear rail. OK, we will go back below and install the hardware there and torque them down also. Now we can go ahead and start the final assembly of the fifth wheel itself. What we are going to do is take it back out and we will put our bars to control the sliders in first. We will go ahead and install our cross-bar and our handle and the part with all the holes goes in. And what holds this assembly in place are these two cotter pins that sit right here on the end. And here, we have to tap in the indicator pin that tells us where the lock is and go ahead and it back into the rails. Drop the hitch head into place. Put a push-pin in and on the other side we will put our snap-ring in. Put the handle on and then we will go ahead and install our cotter pin. And then we will go ahead and install our handle. Right now it is in its locked position, in the towing position. So that is closest to the cab, so it cant move. And then we unlock it and lock it again. It cant go anywhere. Alright and there you have it for part number 50062-6008 from Draw-Tite.
