Der von einem 3,8-Liter-V6-Biturbo angetriebene Nissan GT-R heimste bereits mehrere Preise ein. Unter anderem wurde ihm in diesem Jahr der Titel "World Performance Car of the Year" zuteil.
Hier setzte sich der Nissan gegen den Porsche 911 und den BMW M3 durch.
