Ukulele, Hawaii's most famous instrument, is similar to the islands in many ways. Simple, unadorned, a natural beauty, with a special easy feeling all its own.
It can be relaxing, exotic, mesmerizing and many other things, but always eloquent and pure.
This lead up story to the Roy Sakuma Ukulele Festival, Kapoliani Park Honolulu 1999, features the musical group Joy, who also work with Sakuma to make the festival an annual event folks can't wait to take part in.

I'm so sorry to hear Lili passed. I didn't know her personally but back in high school and college I attended the Fest every year and would see her perform with Joy. Being a huge uke fan back then I even bought both of their albums (still have them). I was wondering what ever became of the band and just Googled them now and found this and read the comments she passed (just read the obit too). I'm so sorry. Aloha to her family. I really admired her work.
