"The fiercest calm I've been in..."

Concertina is a lament for addiction to self-mutilation, masked behind an unusually dance-oriented electronica exterior. Although the eponymous squeezebox instrument is noted in the lyrics as a decoy, concertina itself is a barbed razor wire fully capable of inflicting Chinese paper cuts, another fix, and a fierce calm escape from the massive anxieties and lack of control that fuel the addiction. It's truly a very sad song, but as all of Tori's music, it is beautiful.

  • I've been learning to play this song off a transcription of the Jools Holland performance and I came across this. Your covers always have this force that seems to come from the clearest, most heartfelt places. This made me cry.

  • @jahamette93 ... Thank you.

  • Can you make a tutorial of this song I really want to play it!!???

  • Hmmm, I will keep Concertina in mind. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • You did a beautiful job- really did justice to the richness of this number. This is one of my fav Tori songs...
