Don lives in Las Vegas and still sings as great as ever..........

I don't know Cherry personally but listening to him I get the feeling that he may have been such a "natural" singer that it was no great challenge to him. This may help explain why golf seemed to become more of his passion. He turned pro in 1962 at 38 the same year Jack Nicklaus turned pro at 22 which might give something of a clue as to why he was not destined for stardom at the top pro level. But what a really fine voice he had.

Incredibly smooth singer, who brought strong emotion to every song.

What a wonderful rendition of this beautiful song. Don 's voice is as smooth as the finest Swiss milk chocolate. So sweet. So tender.
hank you for sharing, and for your interesting notation regarding his $25 fee.
Really enjoyed this fine version from Don.

Don was a young unknown at the time this recording was made. Victor Young Paid him a grand total of $25 dollars to sing this song with his orchestra, and his name didn't even apear on the record lable. It did quite well charting at #7 in 1950.
