Kandahar province, Afghanistan, early 2010.

Canadian tanks (Leopard 2), infantry fighting vehicles (LAV III), and AARVs roll out of a forward operating base.

Some tanks are fitted with mine rollers that detonate triggered explosives before they reach the hull, clearing the way for other vehicles.

They are part of a Quick Reaction Force that secures and defends hotspots, often in response to IED incidents.
