  • @munggirl Terrorism, hate and all that existed well before 9/11, the media just wants you scared and apparently it worked. There is still love, don't despair.

  • Hi conkyjoe, its not right, that this song is written only from Eric Burdon, but thamks a lot for posting the Video, i've only seen the sequence in the Festival-Film, its one of my favorite (pop) songs ever.

"Monterey" is a 1967 song by Eric Burdon & The Animals, with music and lyrics by the group's members, Eric Burdon, John Weider, Vic Briggs, Danny McCulloch, and Barry Jenkins. In 1968, two different video clips of the song were aired. (wikipedia)

  • @Montery12 My late and still-Heavenly-precious wife was from Santa Rosa, CA. I'm trapped in Ohio as of now. I'm definitely coming back to NorCal someday soon. My friends were at Monterey in June 1967. It was THE memory of a lifetime.

  • "You wanna find the truth in life; don't pass music by...

And you know I would not lie..."

  • @mungirl - yes 100% - A time when people were smart enough not to simply believe anything a man in a suit with a hair helmet told them.

  • Monterey is one of the most historic Spanish/Mexican cities in California. Original adobes are found on many street corners. Some are open for tours while others house contemporary businesses. Visitors can wander through Monterey's rich past, from California's first theatre to Colton Hall, where the state's original constitution was written. Hope you can visit this beautiful city and remember Eric's great song, Monterey, yeah...

  • @munggirl Ok, I wasn't even alive in the 60s and I know it wasn't all that innocent. Race riots? Vietnam? Even the peace- and freedom-loving hippies weren't immune - Good ol' Charlie Manson made sure of /that/.

Would still love to go back, though. I'm just not kidding myself about anything.
