@Draksen Wellington is hardly unknown outside of England. Not as famous as Nappy but give me a break..

@2taggs2 Monstrosity?? This was an epic movie with good actors (although Rod Steiger is a bit over the top). Since there are very few movies that cover this period of warfare I'm damn glad we have this film.

Best of The Best

@2taggs2 i highly doubt that. it wouldve had zero plot and the movie wouldve been terrible.. like all of kubricks films.

Napoleon knew that a victory would hurt the british credit system and economy and would boost france's so he could get loan's to field his army while the stock market would plummet. Napoleon wanted a frustrated England to sign some kind of armistice. after that all Napoleon had to worry about was leopold of austria and a russian army would take a year or more to mobilize and be placed in any vicinity near enough to bother France. If Waterloo was won, we would have seen Napoleon as Emperor France

Napoleon's immediate plan wasn't to reconquer europe, just to secure a peace so he could reorganize France and keep what remained of his empire intact. His plan was to beat the english and prussians bad enough so that they would consider not being drawn in to another lengthy war they didn't want to re-fight in the first place. Waterloo was Napoleon's chance for breathing room for France and posssibly a way to sign a peace treaty with England. Also economics had a great deal to do with waterloo

Wow. "stupid idiot" -- First of all, this movie BOMBED with critics and at the box office.
And Kubrick died in 1999 - so, his death had NOTHING to do with my point. He wanted to make a film about Napoleon, but right before he was set out to do so, this piece of shit film was made (because of this movies failure, he could not finance it - among other reasons). My point is: Had Kubrick made a film about Napoleon, it would have turned out a lot better than this monstrosity.

@2taggs2 stupid idiot, kubrick died and this was a masterpiece
Amazing how few movies there are about one of the greatest historical figures, let alone historically acurate ones.
