This mini documentary follows six classes of first graders from Jefferson Elementary in Carlsbad, California as they create a project called Beach Trash, A Whale of a Problem. The students have been collecting beach trash since October and have worked with environmental artist Teresa Espaniola to turn it into a life-sized gray whale mosaic all while learning about the ocean and the role they can play in saving our seas. The trash whale is on display at SEA LIFE Aquarium now through mid-April. For more information, visit www.sealifeus.com.

SeaLife does so much outreach in the local community. I am so glad to see that they make it fun for kids to get hands on with actual beach cleanup. The educational opportunities are mixed with fun since it's associated with LegoLand next door.
