What a great performer Bobby Darin was! He could, and did, sing anything. From, Rock & Roll, to Standards, to Folk music, his renditions of the songs he sang are well known and largely well received. And, too, for someone who had Rheumatic Fever seven times (I believe), as a child, he was a VERY energetic stage performer. It's a shame he died so young. Thanks for posting this! It's a personal favorite from the "Standards" phase of his career.

This is a great rendition of a classic. A different version and, definitely, from a different era is one done by Al Jolson. Darin had great respect for singers like Jolson and lyricists of those days, too. A consummate entertainer ... and a real human being. This December 2011 marks, what, 38 years since this talented and haunted man's heart gave out. And he gave his heart to everything in life. Period. I'd love to sing these songs on stage. I'd knock 'em out with Mr. Darin's permission. :-)
